Veering away from the established orthodoxy of Virgil Abloh’s Nike playbook, the Volt trades the usual monochromatic whites greys and blacks that are scattered throughout the Off-White portfolio for something all that more exaggerated. Maximising a neon yellow hue straight from one of Nike’s signature colour palettes of which Virgil has not utilised previously, this shoe is by far the most colourful Off-White to date. The Volt carries Abloh’s signature aesthetic, with the upper featuring a combination of synthetic ripstop material/canvas, and the seams of each panel presenting a raised design to call attention to the source materials iconic construction. The Volt is a shoe for the exhibitionists, a brash reimagining of a much-celebrated silhouette, undeniably impressive, and impossible to ignore.
